Ginny is starting Raptor Red
DNF No one is more surprised than I that I wouldn’t want to finish this, but I just couldn’t stomach anymore “millions of years of evolution” and Darwin-worship.
By all other accounts it’s a great book, just not for me.

Ginny is reading The Body in the Woods (Point Last Seen, #1)
I've had April Henry on the shelves for quite some time and recommend them often because I keep hearing good things. So I finally read one.
Interesting story, likeable diverse characters. I never knew about teen search and rescue groups. I wonder how that came about!
Good Teen suspense.

Very Matrix-esque. The gay interaction almost put me off but I realize it drives the plot at some point. Sticking with it. Otherwise, good sci-if suspense. I’ve no idea how it will all turn out.

This is an amazing book, very well-written and researched. However, I hope these descriptions of their atrocious abuse of the native people don’t occur too much more on the book; it’s so disturbing. I realize it’s important to the story, and I don’t fault the author at all , but it’s so upsetting! How can humans be so evil? This theme is repeated all through history and its mind-numbing 🥺

What a fascinating book! I was born in 1960, so I’m excited to read about these guide books, written in the 30s as part of the WPA, but can’t remember hearing about them before.
My sister found it for me used. Good find ! Good Americana!

Ginny is on page 98 of 304 of The Western Lit Survival Kit: An Irreverent Guide to the Classics, from Homer to Faulkner
I'm loving this book! I was very inadequately instructed in the classics and tend to feel "less than" whenever I hear or read something that refers to classic lit.
I'm working through this one slowly, reading various books as I go, and learning so much! I've already referred back to it twice!
This is a great read but also a handy reference to have near your reading corner, along with your atlas and dictionary.

Really enjoying this. I'm reading it in spurts, easier to digest. Learning so much about the history of France! Caro is a talented writer, very skilled at description. I wish and wish that the were more maps and pictures

Can’t find anyone who read this as a stand-alone, but it sounds good so I’m going to try it.
