At 21%, I'm only up to chapter 3. While the book is well researched, it's presented in such a way that makes it unenjoyable. It's December, post holiday, and I'm just not in the right headspace for a heavy, depressing read... maybe later.

Seriously? Lesbian vampires? I wish I'd read the reviews first. But, I didn't and went into this with an open mind. I guess all the positive reviews were left by people half my age. I guess this just wasn't for me.

I'm considering quitting this, but I'm intrigued by the reviews. I'm not a fan of the reality shows mentioned in the reviews, but I am a fan of dystopian fiction. Since I've already met my reading challenge goal, I'll keep going.

Getting hooked-FB's subtle humor has come into play and some of the lines are memorable.

Not bad if you can suspend basic logic like why a scientist wouldn't cookie the scientific method or perform a basic Google search when needed or accept the author inserting conflicts in the plot that hasn't previously been addressed.

DNF'd at 23%- beautiful writing but takes too much brain power to multi- task while listening. I'll try again later.

Deciding if I want to finish a book that is promoting, IMO, an unsafe medical procedure on a minor.

Finally, a nice light read that's safe to listen to in mixed company! No, nothing earth- shattering or life-altering; just a nice respite from all the negativity that media is drowning us in.

I usually don't like this genre but I'm already 41% done in a day! My first impression was that some of it is pretty unrealistic. Then I remembered that I had some roommates that I didn't know very well either. I can't even remember some of their names.

This is my favorite author of this, my favorite, genre! However, I have trouble differentiating and remembering all of the characters. I believe that having a character summary would enhance my enjoyment of Marr's books. Is there somewhere I can find this online?

Love the author but I'm feeling bogged down and am forcing myself to finish. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's bored.

Ugh- struggling

Wasn't able to finish before it was due back to library. It would have been easier for me to finish if it was an audiobook.

I still think this was a VERY poorly written book but I can't stop reading this trainwreck.

It's like the author had a stack of notes that were randomly documented on a rough timeline. It was as if he just listed individual accounts for the shock value instead of trying to craft some kind of cohesive storyline. As difficult as these accounts are to read they are no more palatable because of how poorly this is written. The author may have just began each new topic with "Then this happened...."

Not since MOMMY DEAREST have I read such an account of mistreatment by one person. The fact that her sadistic behavior was directed at multiple individuals is deplorable. First of all, how can do many people WILLINGLY be victimised? I can rationalise how children that don't know better might tolerate it but adults!?

I've listened to half this book so far. I'm so confused. I can't distinguish between characters unless they have a heavy accent. One of the main characters is the opposite gender that I thought s/he was....
This better be worth it.
