I get why it’s popular. Storyline follows just one character, so not a lot of plotlines to track and it’s simple to follow. Definitely written for the teen audience. It’s a mix of Harry Potter and Hunger Games but with dragons. I wish the story followed the sister and Mom as well for some world building from their perspective. The world outside Violet doesn’t exist so far.

It’s written as if a teenager read the Twilight books and decided to write a book of their own. My eyes hurt from all the eye rolls. I couldn’t get beyond the first 50 pages and wanted to go back to a well written story somewhere else. Anywhere else.
