Self-pity and angst covered up with a bow of a plot. As if romance and possession can save the world. No one can free someone, that's a false premise. The locus of control just switches source. I do wish for less simplistic interpretations of what romantic love looks like in these novels. Even the dialogues are exactly the same tired circular repetition of insecurity. Romantasy authors could use some philosophy.

The amount of shots I'd have to take any time I read one of these books meant for late teens and young adults that confuse love with lust. I feel sorry for the young readers who have to grow up with this as an example of what desire is. These books need a separate genre I swear...

The writing is exhausting, ridiculous, and petulant. I don't have enough energy to read about narcissistic wet dreams.

Why is everyone talking about Batman, if there's Lucien? The audiobook has a fun clunky mechanical zoom whenever Lucien focuses on something. In my mind's eye he's a mad scientist of steampunk descent with a Pirates of the Carribean telescope nailed to his eye.

I can't boil rice while the faeries are having an orgy party and Feyre meets Batman. Sounds like a deepfake.

This is my dishwashing audiobook. What is even happening? The voice actors keep growling in my ear and I don't know what to feel. I drowned in the redundancy, but somehow it slaps as a household chore companion. Maybe it's the LotR vibe sound effects but my dishwater bubbles up cutely at the moody rhetoric.

The only way I'm reading this book is by listening to the dramatised adaptation audiobook. Audio visuals make it sound like a D&D session, book descriptions are very emo tho. Why are the fairies and Feyre pissy about the wrong things all the time instead of asking the right essential questions? It reads like someone's wet dream.

Hot take maybe but social media references are ruining literature. Whenever there's influencer action in modern lit, I feel like I'm throwing up and slurping the puke back down.

Tbh it was kind of sad reading all those lusty extended sex scenes written for fangirls. There are too many of them all over fantasy literature and these ones did nothing to help me get to know Elm or Ione. When will modern YA authors learn that it takes more thana foundation of desire and lust to build a romantic relationship and personality. Feels kinda cheap and hogs too much of their story arc.

I sigh at the constant emphasis on male gaze following E, because from the story perspective I don't want to see the same old shown in countless repetition. Perhaps I'm frustrated that in this story there is no access given to reframing it. Problem with same old things.. But just last month a conservative parliament member called our prime minister a "sandbox Barbie". Reality is the epitome of the same old circular.

It seems that the aesthetics and emotional dysregulation tries to overtake the void left from the nonexistent story details. It lacks explanation and focus that would pinpoint and clarify the purpose of all this conflict. People keep being moody smh ...
I keep irrationally giggling when they talk about who deserves to be on the literature college, as if it's the biggest honor. Sounds like AI making fun of the world.

There are too many adjectives and not enough action. Ravyn's personality is having no personality. Everyone's far too often speaking in rhymes and fiddling cards. Not even sure what the cards do, because they're mostly only talked about and not used in any meaningful way. The storyworld is a bit incohesive. Waiting for some purpose.
