Written 20+ years ago, "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. is a good read for those who enjoy "chefy" books. I wouldn't buy it to read but I checked out the digital copy from the metro library. I think you will enjoy it. Be careful though...after reading I bought some new knives - Global, of course.
