Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent book, but for pro-bio students. Endless terminology though, not a beginners Bio book. Make sure you know the basics of this subject first. I'm reading the third edition.

Boring book, barely learned anything. Won't teach you anything either. Just a bunch of questions he asks about the world - and many of them are proven today.
