In some ways, I relate to the author's 3am existential crises, but this makes for an anxiety inducing read, revolving around patterns of thought I am only too familiar with.

Struggling to get into this. Lol, saw this mentioned as a "cozy" read on reddit but it starts with the author's husband undergoing painful health issues. This really reads more like memoir than guidebook. Was hoping for more of the latter when I picked this up.

Truly need to write my own winter train novel because I return to this one seasonally out of sheer desperation, despite so much I do not like about it.

What happened to Beth (no spoilers!) still made me get teary eyed all these years later...

Amy & Laurie hooking up because of it ... 🤮

This book meant so so much to me as a child and teenager, but gosh so much of it has not aged well. It's not just that Amy is insufferable and her romance with Laurie clumsily written and grating. It's that the regressive ideas about "women's duties" are so opposite to what I remembered. Lol clearly the 1994 movie is what's stamped in my memory.

Sadly not enjoying this reread.

Gosh I love this book so much but it is so hard to see Jo and Laurie not end up together. I get why Alcott did it. But still... it won't ever feel right to me.
