What the fuck do I do with words that even Google doesn't know what to do with? What, exactly, is a 'bierlike' cot?

I simply love it when an author finds a way to weave in an old scientific view in their story, and then explains why said view could not be correct.

I'm putting this down for a while. The insane amounts of head hopping is doing my head in.

OK, this is now the 8th or 9th time I have to read that "someone parted their lips to say something" and I'm getting damn annoyed by it.

Wow, the inevitable 'breakup' at exaclty 75%!

I'm not sure I was ready to learn about the reproductive parts of mermaids...

Ah, crap. I had an inkling this was going to happen, so it is one of those fantasy's that never work.

An example of what makes me cringe in most science fiction books: A planet is named, 35 light years distance from Earth. And in the next sentence, I'm informed Earth's home galaxy is considered a bit of a backwater. Sigh. 35 light years places you in the exact same damn galaxy. Why do writers not see these contradictions?

Huh, what is going on at the end of chapter 12? It seems there is some need of an editing pass. Why would Sylvere be there? Should that not be Cian?

Great. Now Tashia is starting to bust out all these special moves as well. More "spring on water's".

I know it looks like all I do is complain, but I honestly love the story. It's just the choices the author made I have issues with.

People are always going on about "show, don't tell" when it comes to writing, and this book is a good example of telling me things, instead of showing. If you insist on Joslyn preparing for panther to spring before she uses Heron's Wings, SHOW me what that looks like, Don't TELL me. It's annoying.
Also, Joslyn seems to have acquired magical abilities or enhanced senses. Where was all this in the previous book ?

Seriously, if I read one more time Joslyn kills someone by means of spinning crane followed by leaping frog, I'm gonna scream in seven different languages. She did none of this in the previous book.

So I see Kindle prices nearing $15 now, with some even as much as $20. I guess my reading days are over, because those prices are just too much for an electronic file, that has none of the costs of printing and shipping.
And to be honest, the quality of storytelling is not keeping pace.
Some of the best books I've read were under $5, so I will be on the hunt for those. *personal opinion, ofcourse*

I'm thouroughly enjoying this story, and I will give it 5 stars, if only for referencing Mary Anning.

As soon as I'm done with moving to a new apartment, I'm going to call that lady in my city who teaches Japanese.

I spend a lot of time figuring out the archaic English in this book, and I'm loving it. Sentences like: “’Twas,” Art said. “Hard and fast, did she drive her weapon. She hit my crucial marks many times. I was nearly insensate from it.” Beautiful!

Ok, the theory I formed at 27% just went out the window.

I'm having some plot related suspicions regarding Kitlyn,and I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not, this early in the story. But I hope I'm right anyway :)

Sigh... how can you have a 1000 mile wide hurricane, with torrential rains and 5 feet of flooding, and then parched earth a day later? I'm really struggling here...

I wonder how many readers choked on all the streetnames in Amsterdam mentioned in the book; Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal must sound ridiculously complicated to English speakers (and it's even spelled wrong in the book)

What the hell, again with the "weak chins" on Dutch natives.

"His large nose and lack of any discernable jawline evidenced his Dutch heritage". What? Dammit, now I have to go look in the mirror, just to be sure I'm Ducth.

And it took me until the 5th chapter before I realized the theme of being named after existing stars.

"Oh, just shut the fuck up", Rose snapped. I aleady adore Rose.
