At least I got to read through the chapter on the Purge (Night of the Long Knives). It's easy to see how heavily Chiaverini relied on this book for "Resistance Women."

It's certainly interesting to read about the reception and treatment of the press in early Nazi Germany and compare it to current events...

I was not expecting so much on the German royal family. Really, I didn't know there was still a royal German family, that was hoping to be restored, in the 1930s. (Or that in the 21st century, they are still around and still trying to get property back.)

This exchange was repeated verbatim in "Resistance Women!"

I liked chemistry in high school and was good at it, but there's a limit to how much of it I can understand when trying to read a novel at bedtime.

I'm glad I already knew about the sparrows from Pathogenesis, because this book is difficult enough to read without that additional, awful realization.
