the most irritating part of this book is that the MC just cannot believe in mixed truths. ‘if one thing is true then EVERYTHING is true’. no not really

idk if it’s intentional on the part of the author but it’s very interesting how the women suffer for the children more than the men RE actually feeding them meanwhile the men get to drink and brood about supporting their families. like one of the kids took a bite out of the wife’s leg and the husband is like well that’s still my kid. ok but did you lose a chunk

i can’t believe mckay fumbled that confrontation so badly. how do you have 90% of a book leading up to an altercation where the MC admits she should be violent and instead she just pats herself on the back for scaring him. beat! his! ass!
