Just finished the fall of the baricade. I teared up a bit. I cannot believe I am almost finished with this book.

Marius is a straight up stalker.

I just made it to Book Three: Marius ! Finally going to be introduced to more of the iconic characters. I really wasn't expecting half of the book to be just Jean ValJean and Cosette. Seeing the differences between the musical, movie, and book have been quite interesting so far though.

I've always wondered why Javert was so obsessed with Jean ValJean. Finally reading the book is giving me the answers I've always wondered about.

"Thénardier was now just over fifty and Mme Thénardier was nearly forty, which in a woman is the equivalent of fifty: so husband and wife may be said to have been of the same age,"

Damn Hugo, you didn't have to insult women like that ! 😆

Apprently it's time for a history lesson on the Battle of Waterloo

I think I just finished the craziest two chapters thus far in this book !

Potentially unpopular opinion: I don't like Fantine 💁‍♀️

Another week of Les Mis finished!

It's actually really interesting to see how closely the musical follows the book. It makes it feel like I've read this before. It does answer some questions I've had, such as who Cosette's father is, and why did Fantine give her away.

Hugo is quite skilled at showing the internal anguish of Jean Valjean. I just hit the time skip from 1815 to 1817.

Week 1 Update: It's boring. lol. Not much has been happening, and the only person that is being talked about is the Bishop. I assume this is the guy that Jean Valjean steals from, and where he passes, but I can't say for sure. Basically we are just learning about this Bishop's life, and how he cares for the poor and for his community.

I am in love with this book

Read a good chunk today, but man is this moving slower than I expected.

Not sure what to think of this at all yet. I've never been into romance novels, but I really wanted to give it a try due to the fibromyalgia representation.

Crap, I didn't know this was a multi POV book. I'm a bit burned out by those atm. Luckily, I'm intrigued by what I've read so far. I do hope it picks up the pace a bit though.
