Just finished the fall of the baricade. I teared up a bit. I cannot believe I am almost finished with this book.

Marius is a straight up stalker.

Victor Hugo...bruh...just stop talking about people who have nothing to do with the story !

I just made it to Book Three: Marius ! Finally going to be introduced to more of the iconic characters. I really wasn't expecting half of the book to be just Jean ValJean and Cosette. Seeing the differences between the musical, movie, and book have been quite interesting so far though.

I've always wondered why Javert was so obsessed with Jean ValJean. Finally reading the book is giving me the answers I've always wondered about.

"Thénardier was now just over fifty and Mme Thénardier was nearly forty, which in a woman is the equivalent of fifty: so husband and wife may be said to have been of the same age,"

Damn Hugo, you didn't have to insult women like that ! 😆
