Had the first 3 of this series on my shelf for a while and at this point I don't even know anymore why I bought this. But I had to quickly pick something up from my unread shelf because I was almost late to my tattoo appointment. It will be a looong session if this isn't good

Something simple to keep my tempo going. This has not been my best year of reading.
I know what I'm getting myself into with this series, these books are cheesy and objectively a bit mediocre, but I love them. It's a bit like my guilty pleasure tv show Criminal Minds. So I'm hoping it doesn't take me a month to read a book this time.

Great stuff! I've read some reviews complaining about a lack of plot and I guess that's sort of true, but I really like the characterwork and worldbuilding. Hoping she saves the best for last 🙏

This probably was the worst of the series. I would happily trade some of those introspection chapters for some more closure chapters. Still gonna give it 4 stars because the whole series was pretty great 👍

Liked it enough to finish reading but I'm still a bit disappointed. I expected more of it after all those warnings and the magic words 'Alien meets Midsommar'

Ehh the only redeemable element until now is the character work. The horror is disappointing but let's see where it goes.

Don't know why this took me so long. I think less time passed in this book than me reading it. I need to step up my game.
Probably wasn't the best fit for my first Alastair Reynolds read. Good story, didn't really care for the characters but the worldbuilding was great. Maybe I'll continue the series

I'm liking this book, a bit less than the others, but it's still great. I don't think I'm in a reading slump if I'm still reading 1 or 2 chapters a day but I really wish I could get on the level I was a few years back. Reading so slowly maybe has a negative impact on my enjoyment but I don't know.

This sucks and it's not really a spooky halloweenie book so I think I'm gonna dnf this if it doesn't pick up. Don't think I'll rate it if I don't like it because I don't want to get lumped in with the transphobes. I just don't like the story or the characters or the writing style.

Reads a bit like fanfic of a Terra Nova spin-off show but at least it's entertaining.

Not really a writing style I like and I don't care for the characters but we'll continue.

Still in somewhat of a reading slump. Also just got a puppy. So I'm trying to keep it to novellas, but I can't seem to get into anything. I can recognise if I would've liked a book normally but now I just can't.

Just vibing with some scifi slice of life. Will probably be a 5 star read just like the rest of the series.
