Very academic read, having to split it up between another book so I can give it proper focus

The urge to DNF has never been stronger. The choices Rhys, Feyre and Amren are making are SO OUT OF CHARACTER that it’s frustrating. Can’t wait for this to be over.

Good god man. I am struggling to get through this book. I don’t have much interest in Nesta and Cassian as a couple and the politics of this one are driving me insane. Rhys is lowkey an a-hole. I will finish so I can properly give it a chance but so far I am not entertained..

Ok the plot is a little messy again. Also wtf Feyre. Once again protagonist goes directly against what she was told NOT to do. Play stupid games win stupid prizes but I thought we were over this. Curious to see how act 2 wraps up and what I’m assuming to be the war in act 3 starting…

Yes!!!!! ELAIN!! Nesta!!! The reveal and de elopement is so interesting!!! Hybern?!?! Ugh. This book is actually good.

Ok. You got me. I will be adding this series to my bookshelf. ACOMAF was a thousand times better than ACOTAR and ACOWAR is making me fall in love with the characters more. I’m thinking about this book outside of reading it. My pet peeves are dwindling the farther I get. You got me. Will update with my critiques as I get further.

So much better than the first book. A little sad with the way a certain character basically got assassinated but there were a few signs in the first book things weren’t going the way we thought they would. Curious to see how it’s going to end..

Protagonist continues to infuriate me. The riddle has finally been introduced but I’ll be damned if I’m wrong, I have a 90% confidence that I figured it out by reading it just once. Like come on. If the answer isn’t revealed in this novel I don’t know what I’ll do. Still chugging through, hoping for it to get better!

God Feyre makes me frustrated. I don’t think I’ve been this frustrated about a protagonist’s decisions since Mockingjay or Matched. She seems to slowly be coming around to being more level-headed but it’s still a slogging journey. At this point, if I hadn’t heard such good things about the series it’d be going into DNF. But I’m powering through for the sake of the rest of the series.

Man. It’s a slow read so far and the protagonist is paranoid and headstrong. A bit naive as well. Hopefully it gets better as we go.

Ok she’s really mentally ill, awesome! Hopelessly obsessed with her husband who is having a pretty normal reaction to twin daughters coming into their lives. She’s desperate to abort them so the attention he’s giving to them can be redirected to her. She’s twisted and I’m sure that will come to light the further we go- I have theories of what tragedies have befallen her family to this point.

*spoilers* ah yes, the very first depiction of sex in this novel. I didn’t know that’s what would be included but nonetheless I’m not surprised. Extremely tame, very brief. The style of writing is difficult for me to focus on. A few attempts at humor have been made and only one has landed so far. Still too soon to have strong opinions on.

Finding myself shocked at the writing style. Similar to the novel I wrote at 14, there’s far too many “I” statements and the speed at which topics change is jolting. The main character is extremely anxious and mildly paranoid.

Meh.
