Two stories in a stoked by the brilliant, strange and colorful mind of Sayaka. She has become my favorite novelist and everything she writes is so out of the ordinary it’s truly refreshing.

Thoughts - I can’t stand the protagonist and too much of it is filled with her self-justifying the entirely fucked up thing she does then being worried about the consequences of her fuck up and trying to again justify to herself why she did it. I get what the author was getting at, and you don’t always have to care for the protagonist, but come on. Also, for how much Juniper cares about what everyone thinks…

Like I now expect from TJ, a fun, warm l, cozy book that somehow entangles hard subjects and emotions without losing its honors.

This desolate world is somehow making me more chipper knowing things could be much worse, and anxiety ridden thinking how easily we could get to this place.

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to read Octavia Butler

This books writing is amazing. Any author who can take me through the seven stages of grief over fictional characters is impressive, in my book at least.

Hanya is a brilliant writer. I knowingly choose to read this every night, aware of the heart ache.

This book makes me feel like I need air or have been holding my breath. Despite that, I enjoy it, somehow.

This is a book I have to come up for air on. It keeps me up at night, thinking about it. It’s nice to crave a story like that.

Is this going to break my heart even more? Can I feel hope once again? This book has given me trust issues. I expect the worst, but still hope for the best.
