Thoughts - I can’t stand the protagonist and too much of it is filled with her self-justifying the entirely fucked up thing she does then being worried about the consequences of her fuck up and trying to again justify to herself why she did it. I get what the author was getting at, and you don’t always have to care for the protagonist, but come on. Also, for how much Juniper cares about what everyone thinks…

I will say that I am finding the ‘is it inspiration or is it plagiarism and stealing’ question interesting in regards to some of the things that Athena did to draw ‘inspiration’ and create some of her works. The line is a lot more fuzzy, and the narrators could also be unreliable and embellishing it to, again, justify her own ‘sins’, but some of the accusations seem like they’d be common practice, but fuzzy around the line of getting inspiration or lifting from others personal experiences and using it to create your own masterpiece. I find that to be a nice piece added by the author that really left me pondering which made me like the book more (so far). It’s nice to have those think pieces.
Also, thankful I’m not in the publishing world because it sounds like a horrible, competitive, self-grandizing circle jerk.
But also, people love to dog pile online and take on new grotesque forms behind the anonymity of the screen, and are easy to turn against someone (even if they are already dead).
