I’ve put this book aside for now. Perhaps I will return to it later.

I may never finish this book. It is not what I expected but several people from the NW highly recommend it so I’ll try later to read it again. After all it took me three attempts to read The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The author studies internationally and ties in the economic situation in poverty stricken area around the world.

This book about the lack of opportunities for young people in “rust belt” type place around the world rings true with me. I never planned on staying in the small up north community where I was born. My family emphasized a college education & about 7 years after I got my degree I could have had a job in my field.

There were not opportunities, cultural enrichment such as legitimate theater, symphonies etc.

I’ve quit reading this book.

This is the fourth and final book in the fantasy series.

This is a terrific view of how the ordinary people of Vietnam were affected by the long colonial war. First the Chinese, next the French, then the Japanese and Americans.

Hobbs writes about his college roommate, a nerd and brilliant student who can't seem to escape Newark's hold on him.

This is a new author to me. His book, The Gentleman in Moscow lead me to his first book. Both are worthwhile reading.
