This is my fave BBC miniseries, but it is my first time reading it. John Thornton is such a complicated character, and the benefit of his thoughts makes his actions that much more meaningful. He isn't perfect, but he is surprisingly tender at times. I don't think you realize in the miniseries that Margaret Hale is only supposed to be 19, & her immaturity and inexperience really come through on-page. I'm loving this!
