Desiree is starting The Girlfriend
10 pages in and I'm already disappointed by this book... The first meeting between the mother and the son sounds like she wants to have sex with him (and it's not getting better several pages later), then the mom asks if his new girlfriend is "exotic", and the descriptions of the son being oh so unspoiled despite his rich family are ridiculous. If I knew how to return an e-book, I would. Sorry.

I am having a hard time with this book. There are constant repetitions: in each chapter, the character whines about how much she misses her son even when he's only gone for a couple of hrs, or how only her ex-husband understood her, or how incapable she is of dating. This is topped with constant self-pity or the occasional scene in which she runs into the street without looking causing a car to honk at her angrily

Meh,.. This book got good reviews on here so I bought it, but the parts that I've read so far seem very predictable, also language-wise. Many sentences seem to be direct copies from other books and thrillers (very typical expressions), and often, the incorporation of information seems very "unnatural". Like, I totally realize I'm reading. I like books that make me forget that I'm reading, ya know what I mean?

I just went through some of my goodreads-friends' profiles and realized that many of you read several dozen, if not more than a hundred!, books a year. How do you guys find the time to read so much? Also, how dou you afford to buy so many books? Or do you all have library memberships? :)

Searching for: Motivation.

I've been writing on my MA thesis for nearly 6 months now, but I am slowly running out of breath. Does anyone of you have a favorite motivational/inspirational/uplifting book that I could read that would make me want to power through the last couple of weeks and finally start believing in myself? Could be anything from an inspirational life story to non-fictional study motivation. :)
