I kind of want to slap some sense into Helen right now. "I can fix him!" never works!

I've never read an introduction better than the one Anne wrote for this book. I like her a lot. I want to be friends with her based on that introduction alone. I'm glad I didn't skip it like I usually do, because it was the most gloriously written, polite "fuck you" ever!

Vague improvement now we seem to be past a bunch of inspirational conversations.

But also, fuck JK Rowling lol get herrrrrr. Here for the parody!

You know, I think I might just pretend that the first book was a standalone. This is... Not good. I may or may not be skim reading to see if it gets any better.

Now that more character threads have been introduced, it's getting a bit frustrating. I get into the swing of one character's story, but then it shifts to another, and then another. I got the point the author is making, but it makes for frustrating reading (which is the entire point)... ANYWAY, I love the prose, so it's tolerable.

I'm really enjoying this so far! It's not written in a style I usually enjoy but it's so well written, it isn't a problem at all.
I'm trying for the last useless digital bookmark challenge I had any interest in 😉 It only leaves memoirs (which I don't like reading) and the popular fiction one, which didn't have much I'm interested in.

I'm really enjoying this so far! Jumped away from it to read Death in the Spires for the GR challenge (gotta get my useless digital bookmark) but I'm going straight back when I'm finished reading that.

I didn't read the post by Charles saying that this isn't a romance until now. I assumed it was, since her others are.


...and thank god for that. Everyone except Jem and (maybe ?) Aaron suuuuuck. I couldn't root for an actual romance between Jem and anyone else in the novel. I'm relieved!

One of them is a murderer, and they STILL suck less than Kim from Slippery Creatures, which is really saying something.

Because of the cartoon cover, my brain has decided to animate this entire book in the style of a Gorillaz music video, with Damien as Murdoc.
Logical? No.
Hilarious? Absolutely.
I think it might actually be improving it, though I'm definitely enjoying the book either way! It's just funny how our brains work sometimes, and proves the power of cover designs 😅

Oh HELL no!

I'm finding this book far more useful than the Roland Perry one. It's more specific to what I'm looking for, but it's also far less of a thinly veiled biography of Chauvel and T.E. Lawrence.

I don't know if it's just this copy (admittedly, I sailed the seven seas for an E-Book for annotating, but in my defence, I bought the audiobook ages ago and intend to buy a hard copy soon) but there's so many weird spelling mistakes in it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a scanned copy and someone didn't check for mistakes. Like there's a lot of instances where it says "with" instead of "with" and stuff.

Oh my god, this is interminable. I'm skim reading whole chapters. If it doesn't pick up soon, I'm done.

Recommended by a friend who loves it... At this point, I don't think I'm going to feel the same. It feels like it's trying too hard to be funny, and I'm getting sick of the super special main character who's not like other girls schtick

Skipping The Roverandom since I already read it a few years ago. I'm withdrawing from The Silmarillion.

As a disabled person, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this so far! Some of the essays and stories dealing with pain have reduced me to tears, they've been so absolutely true and have put how I feel every day into words beyond my ability to express.

This year has been terrible from the very first day. I'm glad it's over. Pity my reading got dragged down with the rest of me =(

Lowered my GR goal, as I've been too incredibly sick to read, and there's no way in hell I'll catch up on 26 books by December. Oh well, it's not the end of the world. I don't need to stress about the number of books I read, and I'll be happy to hit 80.
