I got it as a gift 2-3 years ago. I was putting it off for the cliche it appears to be. I don't know why I have started it ^_^
Just after reading the prologue, I wanted to put it down. I just can't connect to Ankita. She seems all self-centered and not caring even about her parents. You can say it is her illness. So I go on.
The first letter and the reply she receives are identical. It can't be written by a boy!

They all looked, to him, anxious. He had often seen that anxiety before in the faces of Urrasti, and wondered about it. Was it because, no matter how much money they had, they always had to worry about making more, lest they die poor? Was it guilt, because no matter how little money they had, there was always somebody who had less?

Suppose there is a wave in the ocean. The wave is distinct from the ocean only in its form and name, and this form and this name cannot have any separate existence from the wave; they exist only with wave. The wave may subside but the same amount of water remains, even if the name and form that were on the wave vanish for ever. So this maya is what makes the difference between me and you, between gods and men.

This theory of Maya has been the most difficult thing to understand in all ages. Let me tell you in a few words that it is surely no theory, it is the combination of the three ideas Desha-kala-nimitta--space, time, and causation--and this time and space and cause have been further reduced into Nama-Rupa (name and form).

Space-Time-Part 2/2
He says, ‘Gor, here’s a place where we can put up a smashing wizard village.” So what he does is he conjures something sort of like a huge magical weight, but it’s really, really tiny, right? And the weight drops into the bit of rubbery reality and pulls it down, down, down. OK. So the weight punches that rubber reality right out into another dimension, making a funnel in the shape of space-time.”

“All right, imagine that there are places on the earth that are like a hole in space patched with rubber, see? You can’t tell anything’s different from the top, but it’s maybe a little bouncy or something. Then, say, some wizard comes along who really knows his quantum. He says, ‘Gor, here’s a place where we can put up a smashing wizard village.”
