Took a bit for this one to get interesting, which is not usual for Kingfisher books.

I have somewhat modified my guess as to what is really happening after reading more but also remembering something from early in the story that I had forgotten. This becomes very hard to put down.

Pretty sure that I know what the treasure is and that the story is heading for a sad reveal.

Genuinely shiver-inducing.

“The Dryad’s Shoe” just became my absolute favorite Cinderella retelling EVER. No contest.

I love Cordie so much. I hope she gets some sort of miracle.

This series has really come into its own with excellent characters and some unique stories. I adore the Nekobaba and the current deepening mystery regarding Aoi. The author is doing a great job tying in various side characters. Good stuff!

There’s something very travelogue about this, but I’m not complaining. 🌋🌴

Okay, this one does decidedly improve in the final third. I still find Clio annoying, but she also seems more sympathetic now. The complexities are revealing themselves in an intriguing way that makes for compelling reading.

Clio, you idiot, what did you think was going to happen? 📖

This is starting to get interesting, though I still don’t care for the protagonist, which is unfortunate. The excerpts from the edited book left by her mother are fascinating and I do like the twist on an unreliable narrator.

I kind of wish we were reading this story from another perspective.

Not a fan of any of the characters so far, but I am a fan of this author, so I’m trusting that things will improve once all the pieces are in place.

Nothing against Kiwi, really, and he is certainly having a time of it, but during his chapters I mostly wish that we could get back to Ava and the Birdman.

I am quite concerned about Ava.
