The only reason this is not a DNF is because this is for a book club and I put in enough time at this point that I want to know if there is a point to this book and if there is not, I am throwing a Thesaurus at someone. Excuse me, I am going to throw, going to chuck, going to wield with force a book of words, of synonyms, of doors to verbal understanding at someone's head, at their pate, at their visage.

Luce finally meets a non-European version of her past self and... "her whole world was only her father and a few fat natives." Excuse me. WUT. Why is her guide a quite possibly racist gargoyle and why the hell is a gargoyle racist?

Only two hours in and I'm already tired of being stuck in only European lives. This girl has been reincarnating for thousands of years (I think?) and you're telling me she's only reincarnating in Europe? Nope. Not buying it.

Also: If this is since before the Christian Church (presumably), why would her baptism make a difference??
