Book Club Notes

- The narrator’s name is Gertle, a name that my iPhone will not stop auto correcting
- I’m betting that Gertle is gay for Mice. Whomst among us has not been into a mousy girl?
- Yo is Mice actually a mouse?
- I do love how everyone is mean to Gertle, which they should, she seems like a coward
- Literally not a likable character yet

I’m reading this for a book club. Ever start a book and viscerally hate all the characters including the narrator? This book does that for me.

It is set in Miami in the 60s, so that’s fun. I’m going to read Joan Didion’s Miami parallel to this give me some quality flavor.

I love the theory of this book, which is lead and other pollution is a cause of serial killers. It’s just a bit too sad for me right now.
