The Awkward Truth
The love interest was just introduced, and she’s my type, so forget all my gripes about the labour politics of this book, I’m on board. Girlbosses for the win, capitalistic exploitation is a myth, am I right?

“Loyalty, probably. Elena had that effect on people.” Baby, you’re a victim.

I don’t know, this book is making me hate Elena from the Brutal Truth. She mistreats Felicity for years and then says “I was just waiting for you to grow a backbone” ??? I’m actually tickled by the audacity, but if a boss from hell actually tried that with me, we’d both be going to jail.

I must say, this has to be the most ridiculous premise I’ve seen in a while.
MC says she will only take tutoring (that she needs) if she can exchange it for sex. Girl. It’s actually so ridiculous as to be hilarious but I’m just gonna leave the book for a bit and come back when I’m in a suitable mood

So much self loathing in this book. I really hope the main character doesn’t learn to love herself because someone else tells her she’s attractive, because that’s top 5 worst tropes

Honestly, the “enmity” between the two leads is a little too childish for me so I’m just going to DNF and go find something else to read

I don’t like the other MC (Beth). She keeps refusing to take responsibility for her nasty ass personality lmaooo. First it’s because she’s overworked, and then she’s just being rude because she’s attracted to Adah? Girl, move,

I’m just going to skip the Clara parts because I’m not about to aggravate myself for free

Looking for Trouble: A Quirky Romantic Mystery
Clara West is getting so much villain screen time that it’s throwing the vibes off. I’m now dreading each perspective change because what if it’s yet another peak at Clara doing cartoonish brooding and shadowy deals? Might as well have put her on the cover, for all the focus she’s getting ugh.
It’s a pity because I like the leads and enjoy their chemistry in between all the (unnecessary) villain time interruptions.

Give in to Me
Okay, one of the leads (Brie) is actually unhinged because why. Why are you stalking your one night stand? Make it make sense. Are we the readers supposed to laugh it off and forget it in time for the leads to finally get together? Because…Brie is displaying some worrisome tendencies. I might DNF over this because wtf.

Give in to Me
Elle Spencer is an engaging author who is good at writing humour but I think she’s *really* exploring cringe humour in this book and I don’t think my heart can take it.
There’s like thirty straight minutes of the main characters making fools of themselves near the beginning of the audiobook. Switching to ebook so that I can skip the embarrassing scenes easier.
