It's odd that sometimes we don't only get to hear of Clarissa's inner thoughts but also that of other people? Or is it what Clarissa believes other people are thinking. I can't really tell with this style of narration.

This book is fascinating because you know just as much as the narrator about this dead woman called Rebecca. One moment someone will say that she was lovely, another moment someone else will get mad at the narrator for even bringing her up. Quite a unique approach to mystery because the mystery is not a series of events but the character herself. Everyone talks of Rebecca as if she were still alive and present.

Very interesting this story how no one can seem to let this woman who died... well.. stay dead. There is an incredible amount of self-erasure and self-doubt when the narrator compares herself to Rebecca.

Interesting that this 3rd part of the novel is... for all intents and purposes, not about resolving Mr. Rochester's skeletons in the closet but Jane basically leaving him to do so on his own. This is quite interesting, as she is thrust, due to necessity, in completely different circumstances.

Very odd turn of events, I'll say. Pity that Jane needs to leave.

How typical of her abusive aunt to be unable to actually put her own pride away and just see Jane as a human. Where did all the hate spark from? I don't understand.

If I'm being completely honest I don't like the aggressive self-erasure the employs to keep her emotions in check. Not because of anything other than it has no business being this bloody familiar to my own berating thoughts.

I am absolutely loving this book and these characters that Charlotte Bronte has created. Jane is probably the most relatable character I've had the pleasure of reading about.

Ok... so you want to make yourself presentable for your... daughter who's living hand to mouth in squallor? God he lives in a fantasy dreamworld.

Somehow I finally managed to get around to listening to the audiobook of this novel... 6 years after I had intended to do so.

Quite a bit more to read, I'll admit. But it's coming along nicely the story. Threads are knitting together and there's a lot of things being answered right now.

Slowly but surely reaching the end of this book. May take a while tho.

I'm still reading this. Don't threat. But I'm taking a break to read other stories as well. And do other things right now.

Well... this is an unexpected turn.

I am liking this story a whole lot. Especially the court intrigue present in the Inysh court. It's so freaking engaging.

I can't side with Zelie here. Tzain is right for scolding her like this.

This attraction between Zelie and Inan comes out of nowhere I swear to god it's blunt and in your face. Also, I am right here, right now deciding to not continue on with the series past book 1. It does not reward readers for sticking with it.

That river fight was so wholesome.

Interesting... so if Inan has magic... he'd be an empath. Kind of makes me laugh given what we know of him currently.

Soooo.... is she not gonna suffer the consequences of wanting to kill Amari by throwing her in the fire?

Love the prose. I don't care what this book is about. I just love the prose.
