Back on Goodreads and uploaded some reviews :) My previous spring semester was really rough, so I had to set book reviewing to the side while I was just coping with everything. And the summer semester was dedicated to catching up (+ I teach in the summer semester too), I'm still not entirely caught up, but the situation is a bit better, B"H.

Back on Goodreads (beyond just favoriting things and adding them to my TBR), but having trouble updating progress on my current read... It doesn't come up in the sidebar. Not sure what's going on :O

Trying to get back to Goodreads, but I still need to add the bulk of my 2024 books I read after my laptop died. (I didn't lose data, but I didn't log back in to 864398473 websites because it was too complicated - especially since some didn't want to log me back in even though I had my passwords. The internet has become truly unusable.)

Just got a bunch of deadlines out of the way, so now I managed to log back into Goodreads from my new laptop. I have like a hundred books to add (not exaggerating), might need to figure out how to do that so as not to flood everyone's timeline...? Ideas?

Really need to update my Goodreads, but probably won't have a chance before I am back from Estonia! I read a lot of interesting things!

This is so interesting, but so physically difficult to read: two *lengthy* books released as one extremely thick but small hardcover. It should have been two books as in the original Japanese, and with larger pages. My hands hurt and my eyes hurt too! It's a testimony to the book that I'm still planning on finishing it.

Ok I knew this was a solarpunk story, but no one told me it was a solarpunk VAMPIRE story!!! I would have picked it up a lot sooner!

Any other "no one told me it was a vampire story" books I might have missed? Quick now is your chance to tell me

I have determined that mostly the only people in medieval Europe who documented strange, unusual happenings thoroughly were: 1. the Catholic church 2. the Catholic church 3. the Catholic church .....999. Some noblemen with a lot of free time and interest in strange, unusual happenings.

I didn't expect so much overlap with "lives of the saints" types of narratives but OK. (other cultures/religions are also included.)

I'm really into these print editions, subscribing was a great decision and I should've done it sooner. More magazines should have print editions. But these are especially nicely produced

When I'm reading, I usually don't hear a voice in my head, but the exception is when someone has a really characteristic voice that I'm already familiar with hearing. I watched Ramit Sethi's TV show (I liked it) and I'm now reading his book, and it's very similar in tone. So um, he probably wrote this book? I've already implemented some of the advice and so far it's been helpful.

I think I added everything from 2023 except books that don't have Goodreads entries (at least 6... :/ ) and probably books I just missed.

You can look at my books -> read -> sort by most recent, I marked things not to go on the timeline because you would've been flooded out altogether.

I got to 178 books, but not able to add more, it just gives me the same error over and over (tried multiple times today). I have 2.5 more sheets of paper to add (some of those I've added earlier, but not all). Very frustrating.

I will now try to add all my missing books for 2023, I'll try to make GR not flood everyone's feed but apologies if something doesn't work.... Things often haven't worked on GR lately :(

I have over 100 books I haven't added this year, because these days, very frequently when I log in after Shabbat, I get errors... Is that when everyone tries to Goodreads at the same time? I need to just take a plunge and add them all at once. I have them on a handwritten sheet *sob*

This is interesting so far. But I find it weird that even though it mentions repeatedly that the originators of some conspiracy theories themselves engage in similar activity (Republicans convicted of child abuse, etc), it doesn't say that sometimes it is an explicit effort to keep people off their trail. It's a frequent tactic of Russian propaganda too (like "Ukrainians genocide Russians" - who invaded who, again?)

Reading for work; absolutely fascinating.

Dunno why it didn't save the page number. Is Goodreads such a mess for everyone these days or is it just me? Ever since they pushed the book page update, I've been getting a lot of errors, often with outright error messages (this time it just failed silently)

This is a great read so far, Donbas mostly between 2014-2018 from a Slovakian war reporter who was there. Very informative with a lot of behind the scenes information, helps a lot in filling in the ??? that gathered in my brain from many years of following Ukraine news. I don't think it's available in English (yet?). The Hungarian translation is great too

I haven't had a chance to catch up on Goodreads - I finished the reading challenge a long time ago, but I need to add dozens of books from my notebook to GR. I never thought this would happen, but these days GR has downtime so frequently, I kept on trying to add my books and getting error messages.
