Slow going. It's not that the topic is uninteresting, and I've read books on Bowie previously that have drawn me in right off. But something about this book is making it a difficult read.

A chapter from Melisandre's POV. She's a religious fanatic, so I don't wanna be interested in her, yet, she's a powerful woman, so I am anyway. Proof of Martin's writing skill. Or my own personal hang-ups, you choose.

Books really should not be allowed to be this big, and be, basically, the midpoint of a series. Not saying I'm not enjoying it, cos I am, but what I am saying is I think I literally pulled a muscle carrying this MF'er in my purse.

Very early on, we learn themain character's name is Sam Hain McGrath. Yes, really, Sam Hain. But at least the author knows there was no "Celtic god of the dead" named Sam Hain, but instead attributes it properly to the ancient pagan festival. And then it gets really spooky, really fast.

OMG this is better than sparkly vampires. Trashy writing, repetitive scenes (just how many times *is* Emma gonna be captures, anyway??) and weird sex! OMG weirdest sex evar! Read this for the lulz, people.
