I finally got back to this book after more than a year... The story has had me looking up historical info on Broome and pearling. Fascinating. The detail is amazing.

I'm loving this so far. Julie James' voice is so fun and fresh, and I really like both Cameron and Jack. James' humor is delightful. My favorite LOL moment so far was Collin answering the door to find two hot FBI agents and realizing he had oven mitts on both hands. AWESOME.

Maya Banks does an excellent job of portraying the internal turmoil of rape victims and that unique brand of PTSD that goes with being sexually assaulted. The beginning of this book totally sucked me in.

So far, I'm enjoying the story and the mystery. There are some expressions in the book that I find enormously creative and/or entertaining, and I wonder if that's the result of the author's being Canadian. Quig has totally won me over — jaded cop undone by a sexy woman he can't help but protect.

I don't think I will ever get enough of reading or writing about this period of history. Reading this made me wish all my historicals could be set during the F&I War.

I'm up to July 1759, which brings me to the end of Morgan's book (Untamed). I need to hurry up because I need to get to the winter of 1760 to get to the period in which Connor’s book is set. And I don't have a lot more time, given that I need to write six chapters in January to meet my deadline.

The strength and endurance of Rogers and his men astonishes. I get cold just sitting here reading about their winter exploits.

I wonder if my subconscious stole Benning Wentworth's name for Lord William Wentworth...

Just read about the death of Col. Ephraim Williams and William Johnson getting shot in the arse. I didn't realize they'd fallen back on Ft. Lyman (Fort Edward, aka, Fort Elizabeth). Strange to think of Johnson wandering around, with Robert Rogers and his men camping on the perimeter. The area, such a dangerous place to be at the time, became the home for Rogers and his Rangers. I can see it in my head.

Loved this: "It took a lot to straighten your back like that, hold your head up, be the strength and not the victim." That's the description of what heroism truly is.

So far so good. I like it when wife beaters are mangled and killed. I think Preacher and Jack are up for that task.

Made it to page 12 before I got too tired to keep my eyes open last night. Score for historical accuracy: 100 out of 100. I find that very exciting!

I don't know anything about the author or the book, but the French & Indian War setting thrills me. YAY! I'm going to read a book! I rarely seem to do that these days.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! My sister is visiting from Sweden, so there will be a few days before I really get set up here.
