I don't think I will ever get enough of reading or writing about this period of history. Reading this made me wish all my historicals could be set during the F&I War.

I'm up to July 1759, which brings me to the end of Morgan's book (Untamed). I need to hurry up because I need to get to the winter of 1760 to get to the period in which Connor’s book is set. And I don't have a lot more time, given that I need to write six chapters in January to meet my deadline.

The strength and endurance of Rogers and his men astonishes. I get cold just sitting here reading about their winter exploits.

I wonder if my subconscious stole Benning Wentworth's name for Lord William Wentworth...

Just read about the death of Col. Ephraim Williams and William Johnson getting shot in the arse. I didn't realize they'd fallen back on Ft. Lyman (Fort Edward, aka, Fort Elizabeth). Strange to think of Johnson wandering around, with Robert Rogers and his men camping on the perimeter. The area, such a dangerous place to be at the time, became the home for Rogers and his Rangers. I can see it in my head.

Regina Well I love Surrender and Untamed, the setting is amazing.

Rach~The Highlander luverrr OMG those books were A M A Z I N G i just love that era..

Pamela I'm so glad you enjoyed them, Regina and Rach. I love, love, love that period of history.

I'll be starting Connor's book this next weekend, and everything I thought the story was going to be about has changed. I'm a little uncomfortable with that, because I'd gotten attached the the heroine I originally envisioned for him, but I can't contradict the Muse. She turns into a real b*tch when I do... ;-)

Regina I can't wait to see how it turns out, I am so thankful you put time in to researching and then following the story as it shows in the final product!

Rach~The Highlander luverrr Your historicals are so diff from your contemps its hard to believe its the same author .. :)
Surrender was ****sigh**** such an adventure ..

Pamela I know you didn't like the contemps as much. My life as a journalist is the source for most of those, and it's much grittier and darker than the historicals. I do appreciate your giving the historicals a chance after being disappointed with the contemps.

Both of my editors -- the one who originally bought my historicals and the one who bought my romantic suspense books -- told me that they couldn't imagine me writing the other genre.

Split personality? LOL! I'm actually a history geek who became a journalist kind of by accident, then embraced the mission of journalism. Now I'm ready to leave journalism behind and just write full time (I hope I get to do that soon).

But history and historical books are my first fictional love, for sure. I started writing romantic suspense because my agent thought it was a perfect fit with my life experience. And there are a lot of readers who enjoy them.

Regina Pamela that is great, I hope it happens for you.

KatLynne Pamela, Just wanted to pop in and say that I love, love everything you write from Historicals to Contemps. Thank you for sharing your talent with
us! ^-^

Pamela Thanks, Regina. I so appreciate that! Working full time and trying to write doesn't make for the most sane life.

Hi, KatLynne, Thanks so very much! You're very sweet to say that. It's not easy for people to bridge the gap between two such different sub-genres as romantic suspense and historical romance. I'm glad you're able to enjoy both.

Rach~The Highlander luverrr Hey there
is not just your contemps im not a fan of contemps in general.. reality is dull i like the regency and medievil era they are facinating.. and when they are written well they are unforgettable memorable educational

i am def looking forward to Connor's book :)

Pamela I understand that. It probably surprises a lot of people, but I never read contemporaries until my agent told me I should try to write one.

I still prefer to read historicals. But I have found some romantic suspense authors I enjoy (Tara Janzen, Cindy Gerard, Christy Reece, and others).

For me as a writer, both are enjoyable, though historicals still feel like "home" for me.

Rach~The Highlander luverrr LOL.. whats the best hostorical you have read ..
i lik'em to sizzle .... i love the chase a good chase is a good book

Pamela Best historicals? Hmm... I loved Kathleen Givens. She died just over a year ago, sadly. I loved ON A HIGHLAND SHORE. I wouldn't call her books hot or super-sexy because the focus is more on the story than on the love scenes. There isn't a lot of sex in her books, and when it's there it's not detailed. Still, the stories are fantastic.

I also like Anna Campbell's dark Regencies. I haven't read all of them (yet), but I really liked TEMPT THE DEVIL and CAPTIVE of SIN. I haven't read her latest yet. I was going to read it this summer while I recovered from my surgery, but I was too drugged to focus on books.

Bonnie Vanak does sexy Egyptian stories that have a bit of the feel of THE MUMMY.
