This is much more funnier than what I'd expected. Lord Henry is an asshole, saracastic and smarter-than-you, and Dorian is a little twat, vain and a little stupid (i'd even say.... fuckboyish ?).

Reading this in english is a joy, somehow I can tell Wilde is amusing himself.

I wanted to read something austen-ish, with witty heroines and rich backgrounds, but instead I think I picked something much more bovary-ish.... With witty stupid and vapid heroine..... We'll see.

I've finished it and will post my thoughts later, but I think I made the right decision of not waiting for the French translation. French is already a purple language by itself, combined with the very flowery prose of the book it would have been insufferable for me I think.

Tu sais qu'un roman est écrit par un homme quand un personnage féminin ne peut s'empêcher d'envier la poitrine d'un autre personnage féminin. Fun fact les mecs : on passe notre temps à comparer nos poitrines. Ça y a que vous qui le faites.

I hit the half mark now and I get why some reviews weren't as eulogistic as others. I rejoin them on this point : the book would have benefited from being told in first-person, at least concerning Cora's pov.
