Really thinking of giving up. It's extremely predictable, and I hate all the characters even the little kid...

Can we please stop reducing queer character's being forced out of the closet to the feelings of their female best friends ? That would be lovely, thank you.

Damn but I love this series and this really, really was a big disappointment.

So badly written. So sloppy.

So far it's a bad book. A very badly written, straight to DVD if ever picked by Hollywood story. Characters extremely cliché and ridiculous. I could find it funny if I hadn't purchased this full priced. Very close to tossing it, we'll see if I can at least make it to the middle mark.

Such a detestable character. I'm sure it's part of the plot, and she's about to get better, but the low key hate she has for people her in class is already making me want to close the book.

Wow Lianna is so self centered and shallow, that's... almost unsettling.

I remember reading this at 15, and I didn't remember the main character to be that childish and insufferable.... oh wait !

Am I the only one irked when family members, especially siblings start to openly ask and comment on a character's love/sex life or plans to "woo" (see, I didn't say f*** ) someone ? I get that most of the time the author wants to show how "close" they are, but to me it carries a very... unsettling feeling. Respect of privacy ? Maybe ?

I feel like Dan is THAT guy all the Fuck Boys dream about becoming. Finish sex and the next minute : "Well, not that's it late but I'm waking up early tomorrow."

His partner undress in front of him ? Comment on her plain underwear.

Re-reading this is like watching a car crash at a very slow speed.

Class Act Dan strikes again : Breaks up with his ex wife/friends with benefit because he met someone. Then gets pissed because she agrees because she, also, has met someone new.

This is particularly ironic if you remember he kept dating the heroine and the other girl for most of the book.

Aaa yeah, class act Dan Calebow. Insult women he doesn't deem respectful enough because he's pissed. Sexually assault a woman by mistake, makes sandwiches to say he's sorry, and then yells at her when she stops their kissing. What a true gentleman.

See, I blame books like this one for making me believe guys like this were good guys.

I first read this book more than 20 years ago, and I still feel the same. I love how so... 80s everything is. I love it.

I'm finishing this and probably will need a break. Amazing main character, amazing world building but terrible, terrible "romance".

The way he's interacting with her, all these rape and murder threats... I am very disappointed, again. I am EXTREMELY disappointed because she's a wonderful character, so interesting I can't stop reading, but the more I read, the more it reads like a survival, have sex with your captor to stay alive kind of relationship coming...
If this was only a thriller, it would be amazingly brilliant, but the romance... no.

Violet : Doesn't want to be courted for her money, but only because of who she is

Also Violet : turns into a money hungry b. because Ford is not ambitious enough for her and she wants him not to money his genius

That's so bad, she was an ok character (if a little annoying with the "I'm ugly no one loves me" refrain) but now she turns into a horrible person...

Ok I have read this book before, I am pretty sure of it. Too many details, her reaction to him complimenting her eyes, the gift... I KNOW these characters and these scenes.

" I've never understood how men's minds work. Does your philosophy give you no clue to that ?"

"It may be said of men in general they are ungrateful and fickle," she quoted.

In a nutshell why I can't help but keep reading. Not sure about the love story, but the book is definitely completely improbable and funny.

Very well written so far but 4 (very long) hours before the real start of the plot presented in the book description, and no offense but I picked the book thinking I was going to read abut adults. I don't care about teenagers. I didn't want to spend so much time listening about teenagers, especially despicable things like Izzie.

Talin : So I refuse to touch you, kiss you or have any relationship other than friendship with you.

Also Talin : But I'll get jealous about all your other female friends, even if they're already in a committed relationship, and even if they helped you when you were still mourning (#stillnotdead remember ?). Also I'll complain loudly about the fact I'm jealous of the fact you have friends and family.

I think I'll do a fast forward and try to read only the parts necessary to the whole series.

Talin : I had a pretty rough childhood so I have no worth, should die alone, also I am the worst in the whole wild world.

Also Talin : Yeah sure, put me in charge of children, also I don't need any help facing a serial killer, but I'll go contact my past best friend. The one I ghosted. By pretending to be dead.

Me : I have a good feeling about it, not sure I could find a main character I disliked as much as I disliked Brenna, so this one is going to be really nice !
