Love the setting and magic system so far. want to learn more about what lace is, how blood powers it, and the curse/infection and haunts. Confused on where the mc stands in the setting's politics though. Self serving but in a kind of confusing way. hope to learn more. I really dont like Millie for no real reason tbh; her sunshine attitude is just really annoying to me lol

Omg i can make notes mid-book. Anyway: so far a gloriously unsettling read. It is capturing the disjointed feeling of unreality that falls over people pushed to the brink (starvation), and the "nothing makes the sense it should" in an era where the tools to make sense of the world dont exist yet. What is witchcraft and what is medieval misunderstanding? also maybe theres fae. spoooookkyy
