I’m actually enjoying this except the audio guy has an incredibly annoying voice. Tried to buy a paperback but it had an embarrassing cover based on the alleged movie and now I feel off-put. LOL. Will revisit!!

Ohhhhh I hate to say it. My friends were right. This is not for me at this exact point in life. First half is great. Surely will enjoy it, but not in the mood for a relapse.

I’ve been reading one Mary Oliver poem / day for a few years now. I keep restarting this collection in an attempt to kindle some kind of softness.

My highlighting has run rampant and I’ve used a whole packet of page flags. There’s something about endnote 281 that I really adore. The endnotes are no longer annoying. I actually look forward to them.

Had the epiphany around page 560. Holy shit.

The story has finally picked up. I am enjoying this a lot. I did not expect this book to be so damn funny. Like Lyle?? Imagine trying to explain him to anyone. I am understanding the names of the years, the connections b/w the characters, and the movie thing. I think.

Difficult to read with brain fog so I read when I can. Connections are being made. Still a shit ton of tennis. I frequently use “Bob Hope” in my daily language and no one gets it.

Reading this is accepting overwhelming confusion and knowing you are being fooled by an elaborate scheme of sorts and just waiting for the punch. You fall into a haze after reading about 5 pages where it begins to flow, and then you are abruptly put back into place with a new, bizarre storyline.
