I have but only one question. If Heatcliff’s described as Simone who could’ve had a “Chinese emperor as a father and an Indian queen for a mother”… Then why oh why is he portrayed as a white Caucasian male with dark hair in movies?! Instead they go with Jacob Elordi?!

PS Feels like this book skipped beta readers and editors and just went straight to publishing.

I don’t know of it’s bad writing or what but I keep zooming out and not finishing my footing in the scenes. Like where am I? Who’s taking? Why? Very little context to ground the reader in the story and what is happening. Too much internal dialogue too.

Considering this is not her first or even fifth book, you’d expect better writing. But this is awful.

The amount of characters now described with “high cheekbones”… When Rebecca Yarros first did this with Cat I was like, “ok, this is a distinct feature for this character.”

But now practically everyone Violet meets has it. So I’m not sure it was even earned. Like we get it, everyone is walking around looking like a deer.

Okay, half way in and Warner still don’t know Adam and James is his brothers. I’m getting bored.

At first I’m taking Adam’s side because Juliette is my least favorite character.
But then… Oh. Mafi. Wtf did you do to Adam. This just feels like a lazy plot to have her run to Warner… I still sympathize with Adam, but he’s being out of character mean.

Where do I begin?

I want to put all Warner’s “love” in a bag and stomp on them. Why does he need to talk like that, love?

Third book and Juliette still has the attention span of a kitten.
