Homestly, J’shel saves this book for me. He’s everything.

I actually can’t believe how much I hate this girl. I can’t believe I never saw anything about her in the reviews - granted I only skimmed very lightly, but this is unreal. Heroines will annoy me all the time because so many of them now are written to be idiots, but this girl doesn’t have the decency to be a harmless idiot. She’s selfish, obtuse and almost manic in her obsession with her own misery.

This early and already I’m at least ankle deep in plot holes...

This was such a mistake; it’s not written very well, the heroine is an annoying, petulant, entitled child who curses in syntactically awkward places and I’m struggling to connect to the “sexual tension”.

Okay, so I’m biting the bullet. I should’ve known I’d only be able to hold off on this so long when my head gets foggy enough to only remember the compelling bits.

I’m just skimming at this point...

I’ve about mentally checked out; I’m ready to be done with this book.

This is struggling to hold my attention.

Some people might laugh at this - because what? - but this is so frigging stupid it makes me actually angry.

It’s sad how I already want to stop reading this. The writing isn’t very good, it’s juvenile and already using stupid highschool clichés, and the characters suck. Also I’m not quite sure what it is or how long this effect will last but it feels kind of like Vampire Academy - except I guess without the wanting to screw her teacher thing, which I don’t want because I didn’t sign up to read a YA.

The characters in this are kind of unstable...

And there was all this hype about this book being hilarious. It’s not funny, like at all, it’s just full of weird person cliche’s with some new weird person stuff thrown in - but it’s still not funny, just an opportunity for secondhand embarrassment or me losing respect for her.

I really don’t enjoy the way this book is written, it’s juvenile, too convenient and all the characters are buttholes.

It’s sad that little past halfway I’m losing interest hard. In the middle of the love scene. I don’t know, I’m just tired of people rushing through butt stuff like they don’t care what happens to the other person, and I don’t really like the heroine - she doesn’t really care about her friends’ problems.

Seriously?! No foreplay?! I hate these things

“Good. Perhaps any other woman who dares touch you will think twice.”

This was utterly pointless; they won’t really be able to differentiate this bit of crystal from any of the others, seeing as when he is cut he doesn’t really bleed so much as grow more crystal. Or did Hamm forget that?

“He lifted her into his arms as if she weighed nothing. Sorcha had seen him swing a sword taller than her, perhaps she felt like a feather to him.”

This is at least the second time she’s saying this; get over it.

Really? Because I just lost any interest I might’ve had with his bull-headedness and the argument. Honestly, she hasn’t even had naked time with him yet and already he’s saying she’s his. I know a guy like this and it irritates me every time he gets delusional like this.

That’s not rapey at all...

“I forget who I speak with.”

This is why I can’t take this speech seriously. Sometimes it’ll be quite modern or they’ll all of a sudden be really formal. Then the grammar isn’t even correct; she’s the object in this sentence so it should be:

“I forget to/with whom I speak.”

For Christ’s sake if you’re going to be pretentious at least do it right.

“She couldn’t tell Stone—Eamonn, she reminded herself—that she’d met his twin. She refused to issue a warning she wasn’t certain held any weight.”

Moron.

Same overly romantic language.

This language just seems fanciful and overly romantic; I can’t take it seriously.

Oh, it’s not because you’ve been talking non-stop since you got to this island that you’re your mother’s daughter and you’re the only one who keeps up with the “old ways”. Of course not. I’ve no idea how he could’ve possibly guessed. The author makes her ask stupid questions sometimes.

“She rolled off him, planting her butt back on the cold rocks with a small smile on her face. “Did you say something about breakfast?”

You’re kidding. They just had a straddle kiss and it didn’t lead to anything? He didn’t even get handsy? And she’s thinking about food?! What the frick is this, a YA novel?! But that doesn’t make sense; they were talking about a fire in her loins when she met him.
