Paradise Lost

James
James is on page 215 of 345 of Love, Sex & Tragedy: How the Ancient World Shapes Our Lives
A whistle stop tour of some big Classical concepts, texts, and reception examples and theories. Suitable for A level students but anyone who has studied classical civilization beyond may not benefit much. The chapter on Christianity’s place in classics however was insightful. Everything else felt quite surface level and doing a similar thing to Stephen Fry’s Mythos or Mary Beards SPQR. This is for a hobby classicist

James is reading Mere Christianity. A Revised and Amplified Edition, with a new Introduction, of the three books "Broadcast Talks", "Christian Behaviour" and "Beyond Personality". Fontana. 1956.
First few chapters are wonderful, it gets a little overly complex in the centre, and the last few chapters are more of a struggle as he tries to make endless analogies.

However, great book for understanding some core concepts of Christianity and even better as we consider the historical period within which C.S Lewis was writing.
