Nancy Thormann is on page 24 of 284 of The Wrong Rite (Madoc Rhys #5)
Shucks - I'm just getting interested in the Madoc Rhys series and I found out today that there are only five books in this series. It's like the Peter Shandy books - there are only 10 in that series. Alisa Craig - aka Charlotte MacLeod - developed Alzheimer's disease and passed away in 2005 before she could write any more of these books. I'll have to be content with re-reading them. :)

This book was written in 1939. Publishers wouldn't publish it because they didn't like Bertha Cool's attitude and behavior. I can see why they didn't want to publish it. I've read a few Bertha Cool / Donald Lam books. I haven't seen her as aggressive as this in any of the other books. The story sounds interesting so I'll keep reading the book.

I haven't started this book yet. My Dad saw me start to read it and took it from me. He's reading it first.

The book and the comments about the book are all in German. That's fine - I can read German. It seems that I'm the only one who thinks this book is too fantastic to be true. I enjoyed the other 3 books in the Rodriganda series but this one is too unrealistic. Seven people were captured by a pirate and he put them on a small island. They all survived on this island for 18 years before being rescued. Hmm???

Hmm - a classic book when it comes to manners? I'm sure there are more modern books that can teach people about manners. Just because it was written by Jane Austen over 200 years ago doesn't make it a classic in my mind. This book seems to be overrated.

I've read the first two chapters and have the feeling that this is one of those books I may not be finishing. I hate to give up on books this early, but the book seems like it's going to be very slow paced and I'm bored with it already. I'll give it another two or three chapters to see if it gets better.

I have the feeling that I may not finish this book. It's one of the more far fetched and unrealistic Nancy Drew mysteries that I've read.

I'm not a parent, but I have a question for parents out there. Your 13 / 14 year old daughter has been given a diamond ring which you've put in the bank's safety deposit box to keep safe. She tells her parents wants the ring to impress a boy that she doesn't like. The real reason is that she wants to use it as security on a car that her brother wants. Would you give her the ring no questions asked?

I finished reading The Beauty Specialist starring Simon Templar (The Saint). Hmm - maybe I'm too used to seeing Roger Moore as The Saint. He portrayed The Saint as a gentleman. The story in the book makes The Saint seem crude and unlikeable. I just started "The Oracle of the Dog" by Chesterton featuring Father Brown. I like this story so far.

I'm struggling with this book. I like reading about Chinese history. When I got this book, I thought it was a work of fiction. I've finished the first chapter, about to start the second, and Woman Wang has yet to be introduced. The first chapter was about the economic problems of one province of China and all the wars going on there. I'll read the second chapter and then decide whether to continue with the book.

This book is difficult to read, not only because of the extremely small print, but because the writing style is not easy to read. I'm 62 and my eyes are not as young as they used to be, even if I wear glasses. I think I could get to like Detective Appleby if Michael Innes's writing style would flow a little better. I'll keep going with the book and finish it.

My Dad read this book first. He says the story is interesting, but Harry whines and complains a lot. Perhaps he has reason to whine, but it went on his nerves by the end of the book. For my own part, I take my hat off to the Queen for lasting in her job for 70 years. I said to my Dad that I'd never last 70 years in that job. He said to me "you'd never last 70 minutes." I'll form my own views of the book.

The mystery is very simple in this book. It requires very little detecting. I'm reading the book more for the characters than anything else. I'm glad that romance is alive and well in older people. I keep waiting for 102 year old Sven to take 105 year old Hilda to the barn to have a romantic liaison with her. Neither one of them beats about the bush when it comes to this kind of thing. I love it.

I got this book because I was searching for books on Google that were similar to Erle Stanley Gardner. This was one of the books that came up and the story sounded interesting. I like the story so far, but I think I'm going to struggle with this book. The grammar makes this book difficult to read.

I've only read the first two chapters of this book and I can already see where this book is headed. I'm not surprised that it was banned by some organizations when it was first published. I'm not surprised the movie companies refused to make a move based on this plot. I'll continue reading to see whether all the bans were warranted.

I just finished the section on the Beggar from Bram. I love reading about these kinds of characters. He dresses like a civil servant to and from work and dress like a beggar when he's sitting in the church entrance begging. We all know people like this.

This is my first Sandra West Prowell book. I've just read the first chapter so far and I'm not impressed. If the first chapter can't capture my attention, I wonder what the rest of the book will be like. I caught myself comparing this book with Tony Hillerman. This may be an unfair. They're two different writers dealing with two different First Nations groups. I'll give the book a chance; I may like it.
