This book was written in 1939. Publishers wouldn't publish it because they didn't like Bertha Cool's attitude and behavior. I can see why they didn't want to publish it. I've read a few Bertha Cool / Donald Lam books. I haven't seen her as aggressive as this in any of the other books. The story sounds interesting so I'll keep reading the book.
