I didn’t expect this one to start off with a tortoise marriage, but I’m not complaining at all.

The way this chapter ends physically hurts :(

“I smoked opium once. It felt like listening to you, only rather more mundane.”

GAGGED

"I abhorred weakness of any kind but most particularly in my tea."

I have been confused for several chapters now and I'm starting to get a headache. And this narrator goes and says, "It was not a map alone that made a place real. It was the people." Even though I know the context of this line, still, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

Also Daniel Young has had this gas station map for 8yrs and never once thought to check if his wife was still alive when he very well could have???

Why am I rooting for them to be together?? Is something wrong with me???

"And I’ll be here. Working in a coffee shop and living in a mansion. Alone. And for what?"

// Am I crazy for thinking that this would actually be an ideal situation??

Not once did I imagine spending my late 20s reading smutty Peter Pan fanfiction but here we are.

Alastair's mouth flattened. "I tried cutting the trees down once. But they simply spring back up, straight from the marble floor." He turned to me. "The fruit rarely releases, and only for a suminaire."

// Why am I not surprised that she's a suminaire? And why is she surprised that Alastair would unreasonably punish one of the twins? When did he ever show sense from her point of view? *sigh*

"You're not nothing to me," he said, almost to himself. "That's precisely the problem."

// Um, excuse me? The two of you have not interacted and known each other long enough to have significant feelings for each other. Maybe I'm just projecting, but it's truly an eye-roll moment for me when a story shoves the love story in my face. I've never been able to suspend disbelief during those scenes, and that applies here.

Extremely disappointed in Letty but not surprised

Things are going really great for our four translation babies at this stage. Which means that terrible things are going to happen, and I am fully aware that these terrible things are inevitably coming but I can't help feeling dread every time I turn a page,

Have you never wondered what the fey born of mortal nightmares would look like?

"think about legends that could be talking about dreams. think about all the monsters. dragons. minotaurs. how many of those thinhs are just stories and how many of those things were dreams that are sleeping now because the dreamers died long ago?"

this line really jump-started my imagination so much i had to put the book down, lie in bed, and think about the cosmos while listening to saturn by sleeping at last

I just finished reading Now I Rise and directly jumping into this. It's 11pm right now and I have work tomorrow, and I know that if I start reading I will never stop. So I tried to control myself and I was able to read only Chapter 1. But I felt like I was about to go crazy - I needed to know if Cyprian and Radu would be alive at the end of the book, so I went and skimmed the last chapter.

I'm so glad there are two protagonists in this story, because if it was only about Lada I would have dropped it by now. I've thought this since the very beginning and even now - Radu is the superior sibling!

Had to post this because it made me feel things:

"Its cold, hostile gaze met mine, and for just a moment, I understood its anger, its hate and loathing for all living things. I got it. People were the worst. Selfish, arrogant, destructive, evil. The ones you cared about would only betray you in the end. Why care for anything, if they were just going to put a knife in your back?"

I didn't realize how much I missed this world until I started reading about it again. So so excited to go on this adventure with Puck!

I just find it hilarious that I was putting aloe vera gel on my face as I was reading this page 🤣

Damn. This completely describes how I feel when I hear about nice people becoming criminals.

I resonate with this quote.

I thought, this is the most incredible thing I have ever seen, and I had better keep it a safe distance away from me. I thought, if someone like that ever loved me, it would set me on fire.

And then, inexplicably, you had the absolute audacity to love me back. Can you believe it?

Where Sea Meets Sky wasn’t particularly impressive, but damn, I like the boy and the flow in this one so far.

Darrow is one of the Sons of Ares and he belongs to House Mars in the Institute. Coincidence? Hmm.

"By disposed of, you mean killed."

Well duh. I don't know how many times I've read this particular line. And this is just the opening bit. I do hope the rest of the book isn't as banal as this.

Finally things are sizzling *raises eyebrows suggestively*
