So far something I'm really liking are named characters who die so quickly, which really emphasizes the nature of battle, war, and how easy it is to die in those situations

That feeling when a character in a book is 20 years old and so you are left with the question of "is this character an idiot or are all 20 year olds idiots?"

I finished the first chapter and the number of times I've boggled at choices being made is... Numerous

I just started and I already know exactly how this story will go. Why does the author make a simple sentence as complicated as possible? Also, apparently everyone is an archetype or a trope. That being said, I'm still gonna read this because apparently I want to eat pure junk.

Struggling with this book a little - I really like it but the MC's difficulty with her mom, with her identity (not quite American, not quite Japanese enough), with imposter syndrome; and the other character's struggles with "did I make the right choice for myself when I was a teenager that has ended up dictating my entire life afterwards" - has really hit home and I'm having Big Feelings

I couldn't really get into this the first time I tried to read it, but omg I'm nearly crying at the last couple of pages

Part 2:
I just finished a passage that is actually making me cry - a heartfelt speech about battles to fight in the grand scheme of change, and how small changes can be just an impactful
The example used really resonated with me as an immigrant who's name is different from everyone else's
I'm so happy I picked this book back up

I read what felt like part 1 of many of this book a while ago, and while it was fun, I did find it to be rather long
Currently absolutely loving it - the intricacies of changing government within the system, the politics of trying to manage family expectations and career expectations - ah, it's so good

That feeling when you feel like it might be close to the climax of the book because the tension is so high but you're only 39% of the way through the book.

Yeah that feeling. I get that feeling a lot when reading the Raksura series

Loving the idea of Moon being a great haggler

i'm loving the non-moon perspectives. he's not a particularly reliable narrator, and it's so interesting to see how the world looks through other characters eyes. also ember's description of moon is hilarious.
