Can’t go to sleep until I finish this, but might not be able to sleep if I do.

Is it just me or is this boring as shit? And what’s the movie like since they cannibalized some of the best bits for Silence of the Lambs first?

Even though our dog Styx is a very kind and sweet-tempered girl, I’m going to call her Cousin Stickles from now on.

Can’t keep track of the names or who everyone actually is, but the story moves right along nonetheless.

The Trees is a nice title but Mississippi Goddamn would also have worked.

I officially hope all of the men in her family except Tyler die. The sooner and uglier the better.

This is like those episodes of Criminal Minds I can’t watch all the way through.

Three stories in, three totally different approaches to zombies, not bad. The first story, This Year's Class Picture, has a little Girl With All The Gifts thing going on, but why not? That's a great novel and should be emulated.

This book has me believing Sean Penn doesn't think words mean anything at all. In that sense his inventive new fiction is about two years behind the times.

"Bob sits himself center couch, flicks on the TV. Another debate about guns. Bob sometimes doesn't know what the fuss is about. It seems to him that words are as lethal as any weapon."

Thinks Bob, the guy whose job it is to kill elderly people. With--not words. Don't know if he really has mallet holster under coat that hides giant hammer or if mallet is euphemism for gun, but either way, lethal weapons. Not words.

"Jew speak"? Really, Sean? And no, you don't get to claim it's a character or it's ironic or whatever other bullshit excuse you gave your editor. It's a *footnote*. It's directed to for an (unnecessary) translation of the text. That's actually you, Sean Penn, being actually racist.
