I already cry laughed several times. This book hilarious. Loving it so far.

I don't think I'm bad at pop culture references in general but holy f* I'm struggling. 5 decades of US cultural/music references is too much. The author and I seem to have very different tastes, too. Of course without knowing the music/movies, I also don't feel the emotions the author wants to bring across by having her protagonists watch/listen together. And then there's the urban dictionary vocabulary on top...

I'm calling it as true love witch curse right now. LOL.

To be honest, I'm struggling with this one. The political intrigue is not super intriguing, I have not yet managed to find interest in all the different narrator povs and my favourite character is basically asleep all the time.

Read through part one so far and learned a few new things and understood more about some techniques (safe place, protector) that I had already known. The two hands technique for integrating parts sounds fascinating. Also cried at several of the case examples but I guess that was to be expected.

Schon jetzt habe ich das deutliche Gefühl, dass ich hiernach erstmal wieder Alice Miller lesen werde, weil doch sehr deutlich ist, dass dieses Buch erstens von einem Mann und zweitens von einem Freudianer geschrieben ist.

Does Michael Holden remind anyone else of Misha or is it just me? The chaotic flirting and randomness seems very Misha to me.

At least half of the stuff so far is not applicable in my country as it is very US specific, so I have a hard time getting through it. I have to say that the chapter on medical expenses and whether it might not be better to choose no treatment so that your kids actually inherit anything left me as horrified as the US healthcare system always does.

I like it better than expected so far. I expected it to be all like "another whiny teenage boy to tell us the truth about the world blabla", but whiny teenage boy is actually kinda sympathetic and relatively unproblematic so far. And there are gay people in this, which is also more than I expected.

Tan, honey, what you're describing as laziness sounds a lot like depression. I agree that we should make an effort when we can, but I don't think we always can. And then root causes need to be looked at before the fashion senses can tingle again.

Oh Tan, you lovely gorgeous self-deprecating man, there is no need whatsoever to call your younger self mean words like 'delusional'. There are so many nicer words like 'being passionate' and 'having dreams'. Hug your inner kid and tell him he's fine. He got you here and that's pretty damn impressive.

I'm kinda stuck at 50% because for me, the writing style needs a lot of brain power and concentration to follow deeply, and I catch myself having to reread when I start drifting. And since I have a lot of things on my mind right now... So yeah, I'll pick it back up when my brain feels it's up for it.

This book is a very slow read for me. I like bees, but this book isn't written for non-native speakers who have no biology background.

Unglaublich spannend für mich. Kann ich einiges draus rausziehen und für mich mitnehmen.

And now they have announced a TV series and at the speed I'm reading the series will be done before I've finished this book...

So much platonic pining... and platonic kissing... so, so heterosexual, our main character...

Must be my skowest read ever... The only person I feel anything for right now is Gawyn and he was always boring to me. That tells you about my enthusiasm levels...

Claire and Forest are so clearly paralleled that I want to bash a few of the negative reviews over the head. YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT IF YOU EXPECT HER TO BE PERFECTLY LIKEABLE. Ahem.

I still find it amazing &I cheered out loud at several points. The longer I read, the more I wish the situation at SPN had gone like this. That the actors & show wouldn't have gotten their first taste of shipping via w*ncest but via Destiel & that someone had immediately explained to them that shipping doesn't equal porn&isn't dirty. Also that you're not unmanly for drinking from straws. Oh wait that was reality oops

So far, I both get & don't get the criticism. Yeah, Claire is a loud and moody teenager. Yeah, Forest is a latently homophobic dickhead. What else did you expect? It's their journey after all. They need to grow. And I love the premise: What would happen if a fan asked about a slash ship, the actor was an asshole about it but actor & show aren't settled enough for them to ignore it, but instead they confront it.

Act II, here I come!
