Although this book is well-written and interesting, my mind wanders constantly while I’m reading it.

I can’t remember another time I’ve stopped reading a novel after 322 pages, but I’ve had it. This is a hot mess.

I can’t see myself finishing this one. It just doesn’t ring true in any way. I was interested in reading it because the main character loses his sister and the first chapter is about his parents’ grief. I’m a bereaved parent. But his parents’ reaction is monstrous and bizarre - they pretend he doesn’t exist and forget about him. Does Napolitano have an iota of empathy or even interest in bereavement?
