Sickening, depressing, brilliant and important.

Started this book 7 years ago, egads. Almost didn’t pick it up again. Definitely enjoying the second half better than the first.

Laughing 😂 at this part … this book is excellent. I like everything except the title. Reminds me of Richard Russo’s storytelling. 🤓🧐

Important, complex and timely themes on immigration.

A smart and funny satire on the wellness industry. I was not able to finish it in time before it was due back at the library so I just went at bought it. I found a signed copy! So excited to keep reading and so worth buying!

Disappointed at the harsh reviews of this book. I think she’s done a tremendous job and who cares if she’s using some of her academic research to inform her novel. Why not use it? It’ll be my first book read in 2024. 🎉

Interesting to read about Karen Horney’s work through the eyes of a Greek Orthodox priest. Not my usual, but I think today’s conservative Christian’s could greatly benefit from reading this.

I cannot figure out this main character or what’s going to happen next!

What an AMAZING book so far! I recommend it to anyone who thinks they may have complex-PTSD.

I don’t understand reviewers who picked this book apart. I don’t find it condescending at all, and I’d be thrilled if this landed in the hands of anyone who cares even the slightest about how they as individuals can help the environment.

It’s written very well. I’m usually more of a fiction reader, and it’s captured my attention.

Not in the same league as Circe so personally I wouldn’t compare it. I’m also struggling with the quality of the writing. It’s probably not fair to the book that I read it right after “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle,” a book that other Goodreaders have dubbed as a masterpiece in their reviews. I do like the story, and it’s surprisingly humorous with some sweet moments in it so far …

First attempt reading this author. Just finished the first chapter. Dreamlike is a good description. Somewhat reminiscent of David Mitchell. Can’t wait to read the rest!
