So far so good. I’ve had to look up a few words. Schemata, aphasia and agnosia. I also learned what a 20 sided die is called icosahedron (in the book it is spelled “eikosihedron.” The book is from England. Maybe that’s how the spell the shape in England or our languages evolved to a different spelling.

Chinese woman has twins. Try’s to keep it mostly hidden due to the one child policy in China. She keeps trying for a boy. I think these are her 3rd and 4th child. It seems like the one child policy has been removed.

I need to get better at validating people’s feelings.

Calvin just got good news from the state court of Louisiana. Judge Parker was asked to recuse himself from Calvin’s appeal. The judge did not and the state court agreed with Calvin that he should have. Calvin is going to get another court date. He’s been losing hope. Not eating and losing weight as his hopes get diminished.

I think Calvin’s going to prove himself innocent. He’s 41 years old right now. His daughter is fully grown and misses him. The New Orleans legal system has done many illegal things to get conviction. Many are false convictions that ruin people’s lives. Calvin is one of these people.

This kid, out of necessity, is learning the law and becoming very smart. He has a kind heart that not only helps people with their cases but lifts them out of ignorance. He will not work on someone’s case unless they work on it with them.

Not sure I’m getting a lot out of this book.

Trees communicate using fungi. There are over 1.2 million different fungi and only 20,000 of them create a mushroom. It seems like if you wanted to start life on other planets from scratch, you would introduce a shit ton of fungus to the planet and weight a long time. Some of that fungus would survive and evolve to multiple species if given enough time.

Fascinating. I never knew there were worm eating fungus. Almost all truffles can. Or be cultivated and farmed. Part of the problem is that we don’t know enough about fungus. And to cultivate truffles it sounds like you’d have to plant a whole forest.

It seems like they got away with it. Lennie (Lenora) had a son. His name is MJ. The excruciating pain of child birth of an 18 year old mother is described very well. Lenny will never have a child again without medication.

Well, Lennie got into the University of Alaska Anchorage. The same place Matt is going. They love each other. I saw that one coming. They made love in Lennie’s house and Matt had to sneak out. They fell asleep and her parents came home. They got lucky. Kinda a “Romeo and Juliet” situation. The fathers don’t like each other. They will be together at college!
