Man if it weren't for Trump, the revelations about Cheney's interference at Justice on torture justification would be blowing the press up.

In non-Nazi news, this book is FANTASTIC. It takes a literary device I don't usually like and masterfully turns it into a wonderful puzzle. I completely understand how this won a Hugo.

Holy crap - it's a military SF novel where the main character Gorsky through horrific shit, tries to muscle through... and can't. She has to accept COMPETENT MENTAL HEALTHCARE. Woah.

This is very much a fate-like system with a bit more crunch thrown in.

Mostly so far this book has gone into the history of the components of the iPhone. And tried very very hard to make it clear how many people died to put a phone in your pocket, you monster.

This book is so far about 25% about the history of one piece of the iPhone (the multitouch screen) and 75% about how absolutely awful the production of the iPhone is.

This is like the fourth story set in an alternative universe with a non-immediately lethal Venus. Seemed to be popular last year, I guess.

Gypsy was definitely one of the most depressing SF tales of a hibernation ship ever.

John Christensen is finished with Wolverine by Greg Rucka: Ultimate Collection
I feel like this book was great until we hit the tired "woman meets Wolverine once, in passing. Is immediately attracted to him, abandons life to track him down" trope.

This book is doing a great job explaining why space elevators are horrible ideas.

KSR is good at writing about Mars. Not so good about relationships or cultures that aren't American.

So far interesting system. I like the dice, which combine a single roll with reflecting the idea that dice rolls can have multiple kinds of success and failure. Pretty standard attr + skill system, though one of those determine the number of dice you roll and the other determines the type of die. Talents seem cool. There's also an interesting reputation component and a destiny system that looks nicely fluid.
