224,000 five-star ratings and I'm having a hard time finishing it. I guess I'm the odd man out here.

totally stalled on this book. bored to tears! I will eventually finish it but it's going to take hell of a long time.

it has taken me forever to read this book but it's a good read, I've just not given it the attention it deserves.

first time reading Peter Watts. I like his wit. he turns a phrase in a way that makes me think and lose track of the narrative which is funny.

too much violence

I am extremely enjoying this novel the second time around after previously reading it about 25 years ago.

kind of getting a "Beth" vibe from the Queen's Gambit by Walter Tevis.

The author made a huge mistake of ignorance regarding Christianity, saying that the 12 or so members of the crew who were Christian were mostly Americans. he obviously did not know about the Orthodox Church. most Slavic countries are orthodox including Russia.

finally decided to read this again after about 25 years. published in 1992. I'm surprised at how poorly it has aged but then 33 years is a long time so I mean the internet wasn't even a thing yet.
