I am only about a 1/4 of the way through this MG speculative novel, but I am loving it so far. I do wonder how many students are drawn to novels like this.I love it because I find the craft beautiful and the message touching, but many of my students read fast-paced murder mysteries, dramatic romances, and action-packed sports stories. How and where does this sort of writing fit into the classroom? As a read aloud?

Excellent.

I’m halfway through and so far I’m getting Twilight meets 50 Shades of Gray meets Beauty and the Beast. But everyone seems to love this series so it better get better real fast or I’m gonna be pissed.

Apparently July is my month of REreading. This is the third book I’ve reread this month...and I rarely reread. I recommend this book frequently to students, but sort of forgot why I love it so much. 70 pages in and I’m back in love...Nelson words are brushstrokes on the page; her prose are Jude’s sculptures and Noah’s drawings.

This is a “reread.” Listening to the audio version that just came out!

I’m 15 pages in. Good thing I was reading sitting down, otherwise I may have fallen over. Wow.
