Re-reading less than 2 years after publication and this is already feeling aged..

This is the most boring LotR retelling I have ever read. And I still don't understand what's going on because all the characters and places are so alike.

Deja-vu! This book is so much like the Travelling Cat Chronicles by the same author that I thought I had downloaded the wrong book at first!

Wat maakt dit deel van het boek mij verdrietig zeg. En wat is de schrijfster een verwend nest! Ervan uitgaan dat iedereen een leven vol liefdes en relaties heeft gehad, alsof het niets is.

“In het bijzonder geschreven door vrouwen EN iedereen die zich zo idetificeert.”
Ouch, een bijzonder transfobe manier om pseudo-inclusief te zijn, dit belooft niet veel goeds…

Zebra is so ridiculous sometimes and I love it!

This is written from a very male viewpoint. As a woman, “saying no more often” is not that simple! Saying no is usually ignored or treated as a joke. It can have dangerous repercussions, and certainly does not cause the rejected person to “respect you more”… ugh…

OMG the Discovery crew are watching Galaxy Quest during their movie night? I love it :D

Brilliant octopus with a great sense of humor, check.
Old lady dealing with grief who makes friends with said octopus, check.
Stupid sexist lying asshole who hates everyone and everything and refuses to grow up, wtf?

This keeps getting more and more ridiculous. Everyone leaves the school after killing the bad guys so there's no real reason to leave it anymore, and then they all just resume classes in a different unsafe place because…?

The story of Nella set in 1791 London is interesting and makes me want to keep reading, but the story of Caroline set in the present is so incredibly boring and repetitive…

Ik krijg steeds meer het gevoel dat de schrijfster geen idee heeft wat identiteit nu eigenlijk is en daarom een boek heeft volgeschreven met willekeurige quotes en ideeën van andere mensen, zonder een poging te hebben gedaan die echt te begrijpen. Het resultaat is nogal onsamenhangend. En het lijkt vooral gericht op ouderschap en opvoeding, jammer.

Ah yes, of course they must now ration their oxygen or they will run out of air before landing on Mars. Everyone take shallow breaths only for the next 36 hours or we will have to turn this ship around and go back to Earth!

OMG they are only three quarters of the way to Mars and discover they did not bring enough food or water for the trip!? Maybe they should have spent less time learning to operate the Mars Rovers and more time grocery shopping…

After a long and repetitive training montage, we find out the Mars Rovers the astronauts have spent so much time learning to drive and operate are actually sentient beings that can do their work independently just fine without ever needing a human operator!? LOL what a terrific plot twist for such a terrible book.

This really should have been titled: “Cat Sloan Is Chuckling” I don't even care about the romance story anymore I just want everyone to STOP CHUCKLING!

I wish everyone would stop chuckling every other sentence, it is getting on my nerves!

About 40% in and I really hope the story is going to start soon because everything that's happened so far was already covered much more effectively in the book description.

“Eikelbrein” is volgens mij de slechtste vertaling ooit. Vooral voor een concept wat juist langetermijndenken en empathie richting toekomstige generaties zou moeten vertegenwoordigen…

Ronduit walgelijk hoe de politie vreedzame en gehandicapte demonstranten behandelt en mishandelt. Erg verontrustende verhalen.
